Relax, it's only $8!

The topic of discussion that has been prevalent in all of my Facebook travel groups is the new European visa requirement that's really not a visa requirement. Come 2021, US citizens visiting the Schengen Area will require travel authorization for entrance. What does this mean? The European Union (EU) is creating a European Travel Information and Authorization System (ETIAS) that requires "pre-travel screening for security and migration risks of travelers benefiting from visa-free access to the Schengen area." Basically, you complete an online application, pay an $8 fee (approx.) and, voila, you have an authorization that's valid for three years. Of course, this assumes that you don't have a sketchy background and your application is approved. You can read CNN's article on this topic here.
